Grist is the name of a range of resources used in the mod, obtained mainly from defeating enemies in the Medium, and is the material used to alchemize items. It is also necessary for building onto a player's Medium entry point.
Obtainment[]
The main way to obtain grist is through killing Underlings. These monsters spawn across the players land, dropping grist of their color upon death.
Another way of obtaining grist is by breaking down items in the GristWidget 12000 for grist at the price of some boondollars.
Upon entering the game for the first time, the player will already have 20 Build Grist they can use for their own purposes.
Grist Cache GUI[]
The Grist Cache GUI, the 3rd tab accessible in the Minestuck menu, displays the amount of grist the player has obtained so far. Prior to entering the medium, the player will be able to access the GUI (showing the only 20 Build Grist they have obtained at that point) however further features develop upon entering the medium. At this point, the player will be able to view their aspect title in this menu. The menu overall is a 3x7 grid, showing all available grist with a picture how much of that grist the player has. Presently, the grist cache has no limit.

In the comic[]
Similar to the mod, Grist is a type of item dropped from monsters, used for alchemy and building. Like most sburb game mechanics, John is first shown to obtain grist.
Trivia[]
- The only way to get Zillium is by putting an Ender Dragon egg, Dragon Heads, or Zillium Skittles (Which can be bought from Consorts) into a GristWidget 12000.
